Frequently asked questions
Can I ask some questions before my first coaching call?
Yes, absolutely. Book a quick 15-minute chat on Zoom and ask anything you like. When you're ready, book your free coaching session.
What happens in my free session?
It's your first proper coaching session. You tell me what's bothering you and what's happened in your life, and that becomes the starting point for our work together. Afterwards, I'll send you a free written summary of the session, so you can see what the optional session summaries are like and decide whether they'd help you.
What if I want to try single sessions first?
Go ahead. Book your first block within a month of your first paid session and I'll apply the block discount retrospectively to every single session from that month, taken off your next invoice. You end up paying the block rate from the start.
How do I pay?
Bank transfer by default, which is free for both of us. Debit card on request through a secure Stripe link. I prefer not to take credit cards, because they add financial pressure. Talk to me first if you'd like to use one.
What if I need to cancel or move a session?
Give me at least seven days' notice. Late cancellations and missed sessions are charged at the usual fee. Once every three months you get one free short-notice cancellation, even on the day, as long as we rebook within the same week.
Do I get a cooling-off period?
Yes. You have 14 days from signing your coaching agreement to cancel without giving a reason. I refund anything you've paid for sessions not yet delivered.
Is this therapy?
No, and that's deliberate. I spent many years in therapy, talking endlessly about what had happened and how I felt about it, but nothing changed. Coaching is about understanding how your past affects the way you live now. From that understanding, we practise new ways of responding and build a whole new way of life for you. Change happens as you practise those new patterns between our sessions.
I'm a certified coach with my own lived experience of CPTSD. I'm not a psychotherapist or a medical professional, so I don't diagnose or treat any health condition. Coaching works well alongside therapy or medical care. However, if you are having either, please let me know.
Coaching isn't a crisis service. If you're struggling to keep yourself safe, contact your GP, call NHS 111 and choose option 2, or call Samaritans free on 116 123.
